Mistral were looking for a partner who could help them develop a wireless, biometric authentication device that provided advance features such as remote management , RF shielding etc. They also felt the need to go with someone who could put together a design that would stand its ground in comparison to other products available in the world market and showcase their technology.
At Bang* we looked around and took metaphors of various security products such as locks, safes etc to kick start our ID process. Yet we felt that something was lacking in these imagery in terms of their "hi-tech" look and feel. At this point, we thought, if the product is supposed to be uber amongst its peers, why not look at the uber tech head of security, Darth Vader himself. We looked at and took cues from the Darth Vader's mask to design the front profile of the product. We also helped develop the packaging of the product volume, isolating emissive components from others. Using our network of suppliers in the far east, we helped build test and demonstration prototypes with ferritic coating for RF shielding and helped deliver the product in one of the shortest lead times.
