Having seen the legendary Moka Express in action we decided to take a shot at making our own Espresso maker. Being fans of the legendary comic series Asterix, we chose the book Asterix and the Normans as our inspiration for coming up with this design. The Espresso maker derives its form from Nescaf, the trusty aide to Timandahaf the chief of the Normans.
Like Nescaf in the books, our Espresso maker design has a small head and big horns on either side. This bottoms out into a large belly with black fur (coated steel). The product can deliver two shots of Espresso at any given time and was tested at Coffee Labs in Bangalore. It works on the simple Espresso principle of forcing steam through coffee grinds which then condenses as it changes direction and comes out into the cups as a stuttering frothy mixture. The Espresso Maker can be used on gas as well as electric cook tops and comes with a blow-off valve designed to relieve excess pressure build up.
