Ice Cream Vending Kiosk

The ice cream market in India picked up after de-reservation of the sector in 1997. Around 30-32% is in the hands of organized sector. Among the major players Hindustan Lever had a market share of around 50%, represented mainly by Kwality Walls brand.

To get a double scoop of the growing market, Kwality would have had to open a fancy ice cream parlors or invest in an expensive national franchise. Instead, to take on the unorganised market, a free-standing vending kiosks could be placed in high-traffic areas, typically on the streets of the city.

The purpose of creating a kiosk was to at once create visibility for the brand as well as effect instant gratification sales. Bright colours, flashing lights, what passerby could resist?. The original towering kiosk design was cut short because of specific requirements in certain areas in the city of Mumbai. The shorter version is shown here.
